The beginning
The Smuts family begin their farming operations, marking the start of the Lucerne legacy.
1980s
Klipboschlaagte Farm
Lucerne Agri Investments purchases the 322-hectare Klipboschlaagte farm, triggering a rapid expansion of our farming business.
1990s
Diversifies production
Our farming business diversifies production to include tree fruit such as stone fruit, citrus, and avocados.
2017
Lucerne Pack
Construction of the Packhouse at Klipboschlaagte, known as Lucerne Pack, in collaboration with ANB Investments, extending our infrastructure for packing tomatoes, stone fruit, and citrus.
2021
ARISA Packhouse
The joint venture between Lucerne Agri Investments and ANB Investments purchases the ARISA Packhouse at Buffeljags, further expanding our packing capacity.

Smuts Broers Agri renamed to Smuts Farms
In an important move signifying growth and progress, Smuts Broers Agri, the cornerstone of the Lucerne Agri Investments Group, underwent a rebranding and was renamed to Smuts Farms.
